fREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many miles can I travel with the KAR?

It will depend on several factors, such as average speed, slope of the terrain, etc. In general using it in assisted mode with pedaling, with the lowest battery pack, you will get from 5-7mi and up to 16mi with expanded battery.

Can I fold my bike with the kit attached?

Of course! It does not affect or occupy space of the folding. Also for weighing less than 5.9 lbs does not require any effort.

Do I always need to pedal to get the engine to start?

It is not necessary to keep pedaling, if you use a throttle on the handlebars, this is an optional accessory. (Accessory restricted in some countries)

I have the kit installed on my first 20 wheeled bike, can I install it on a 26 wheeled bike?

Of course! You disassemble it from your old bike, and perform the same installation on the new bike. Can practically be installed on 99.9%, most bikes.

Can I install it myself, without tools or electrical knowledge?

The kit installs in minutes quite easily. It does not require electrical knowledge. You may need some common tools like a pipe wrench, pliers, and scissors.

How do I know when the battery is fully charged?

The included charger has an indicator of the battery charge status as well as the LED screen. Also, if you have a throttle to the handlebar or a LCD screen you can know the battery charge in real time.

Do I need special tools to install the Fast Fit sensor?

No! Installs easily without disassembling any part of the bike.

I want to go faster than 15mi/h!

Aston Rider Kits are prepared for different speeds, you must consult the regulations of your locality for the safe use of electric bikes.

Why are there kits for electric bikes with a wheel included and more expensive?

The KAR goes on almost any bike, of any tire. Other kits need to change the wheel and demand to be special for each wheel size. Plus, our kit is very discreet, lightweight, and powerful. Kits on the market are heavy, expensive, and low-performance.

How does the system work if it doesn't have an throttle?

The kit, without the (optional) throttle accessory, functions as a Pedaling Assistant. This means that the motor will start when it detects you are pedaling. And it will help you automatically, it will also slow down when it detects that you stop pedaling.

If I run out of battery, can I disconnect the motor from the wheel?

Yes! With manual engagement, in seconds you can remove the motor from traction with the wheel and re-engage it whenever you want.

Can the battery be easily removed for external charging?

Yes! You can remove the battery at any time and put it to charge externally, for this you will need the accessory (optional) external battery charger cable.

Does the kit require any kind of maintenance?

The motor is sealed and does not need servicing. Although, in the purchase of your KAR we give you a free video-call service after 6 months!
